PG DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH PRINT JOURNALISM

CURRICULUM
The focus of SPJS is on print journalism. Towards this end, the syllabus will cover the following:

• Reporting, with special emphasis on news reporting, business reporting, interview techniques and sports reporting;
• Editing as well as headline and caption writing;
• Feature writing;
• Communicative English;
• Newspaper design and page make-up;
• Production methods;
• Laws of the Press in India;
• News photography;
• Specialised writing on environmental, scientific and legal issues;
• Multimedia and web journalism;
• Understanding India—its institutions, its political and legal framework, its security environment and its neighbours, and
• Understanding the world—to sensitise students to international institutions and multi-lateral frameworks, with emphasis on three regions of special interest—Asia, Europe and the European community, and the United States of America.

 
DURATION OF COURSE
Nine months, commencing in August 2022 and concluding in May 2023.
 
FEE STRUCTURE
Tuition: Rs 75,000/-
Course materials, library, field trips: Rs 20,000/-
The Statesman Style Book: Rs 1,000/-
Internet charges: Rs 1,000/-
Convocation fee: Rs 1,000/-
Total: Rs 98,000/- + applicable taxes*
 
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
Upon acceptance of offer: Rs 35,000/-
On joining the course: Rs 35,000/- 
By 31 October 2022: Rs 28,000/-
 

• No refund of fee is permitted should a candidate change his/her mind after accepting admission.
• Service tax may be applicable.
